Question: I am from XXXXXXX 52years old female,had sore throat for four days with fever on off on all those days ,my doctor had put me on Aztra 500mg for 4 days and since symptoms did not settle with medicines ,blood test was done and found S. Typhi [o] 1:80 dilution positive and S. Typhi [H} 1:80 dilution positive and can widal test give accurate results in half an hours time,
Also he has put me on Zenflox plus 500mg twice a day ,it is quite strong ,is the course of treatment correct and am i having Typhoid,

Hi,

If I was your treating doctor, I would have waited for 10 days for your sore throat symptoms to settle down, then repeat the typhoid test and check if the serology is increasing or decreasing. If the titers increased to 1:160 then only I would have started typhoid medicines.

I think that typhoid medicines are not needed currently with your given clinical presentation.
