Question : In March I had intestinal flu which resulted in severe vomiting and fever over three days; and in April I had bronchitis which resulted in a severe cough and fever just under a week. I still have a slight evening cough but it's much improved. My doctor prescribed an antibiotic for the bronchitis which I completed. However, I now have a type of throbbing pain in the right front of my neck under the jaw line which comes and goes throughout the day but is usually worse at night. I take Tylenol and use a topical analgesic and the pain subsides. It did not bother me all day today until I went for a 45-minute walk this afternoon when the pain again returned. Could I have damaged muscles or tissues in the front upper neck region due to the chronic vomiting and coughing?
Brief Answer:
Probably a muscle strain!
Detailed Answer:
HI,
The cough and excessive muscle contraction during cough efforts might have strained your muscles. This raises no acute health concern and I will recommend just same medications. These symptoms would regress progressively and ultimately resolve fully.
I wish you well. Let me know if you have any further worries.
