Question : my dad may have taken glipizide twice in two hours. how soon will the effects show

Good day,
Noted your concern.
The effect will be fairly quick, usually it will start by 45 minutes to one hour . So if he has taken 2 pills, there is a chance of hypoglycemia. Please give him a meal now.

Glipizide is a long acting drug and the effects may last for more than 24 hours. So please monitor his blood glucose by a glucometer at home once every 6 hours for next 24 hours.

That blood sugar of 166 is quite reassuring.
He will be fine, not to worry. But at his age, there are higher chances of hypoglycemia with 2 pills. So it is recommended to check his blood glucose every 6 hours for next 24 hours. It is wiser to give him a small snack every 4-5 hours or so for next 24 hours.
