Enema is an insertion of fluid into anus and rectum and it is used to cleanse the colon and lower intestines to remove build up of fecal matter and toxins.
For enema administration, you need a pair of gloves, a quart of enema, vaseline, toilet paper.
1. After wearing the gloves, you need to lie down on your side with the knees bent
2. Slowly insert the lubricated ( with vaseline) enema catheter tip into the rectal opening, positioning it towards the navel.
3. Now press the enema and let it flow inside smoothly. Breathe slowly and deeply. If there is any cramping or discomfort, then reduce the flow.
You need to keep lying on your side for next 10-15 minutes until a bowel pressure builds up and the enema starts showing an effect.
Be sure to consult a physician in case you need to administer it more than twice in a week.
Hope this answers your query. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
