Question : Hello
My father is 70 years old . He has a very thin stature but is very fit and active in this age. Due to his thin structure with no fat , his veins are just under his skin . And when sometimes it rubs on to a wall or any surface sometimes there is internal bleeding in the veins of his skin. How can this be avoided and what needs to be done to be able to successfully treat this . Please see the pic of a rub wound attached. This time the top skin also was removed , but normally the external skin remains intact but the internal vein bleeds. Pls advice.

This skin condition is known as Actinic purpura or Senile purpura wherein large eccymotic patches of bleeding are formed secondary to minor trauma e.g rubbing or scratching. The reason being damage to the connective tissue supporting the walls of blood vessels of the skin causing them to rupture easily. You an ask him to take an oral Vitamin C supplement e.g tablet Celin or Limcee once a day. Vitam9n C would help resolve these patches of bleeding. Specifically for this one which you showed in the image he may use a topical antibiotic e.g either Neosporin ointment or Mupirocin ointment for a week till the skin grows back and covers the wound.
