Brief Answer: Needs evaluation. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX, Thanks for the question. Sinusitis is the inflammation of the nasal sinuses, an empty space in the bones around the nose, it could be due to bacterial infection or viral infections. Viral infections are self limiting, and don't persist for more than a week or so, so I suspect you might be having a bacterial infection, in which case you will need to take a full course of antibiotics, depending on the exact medicine, the full course may be of 3 day, 5 days, 7 days or more than that. In this condition it is best to consult a physician or an ENT surgeon for a complete physical examination, and if required, the doctor might ask you get a few blood tests, X-ray of the sinuses, and/or culture & sensitivity of the nasal discharge to find the exact type of bacteria. Once this done, we can decide on the appropriate antibiotic, because some bacteria will be resistant to some antibiotics. So, please do consult an ENt doctor at the earliest for correct management. Hope this answer is helpful and informative to you. If you have any doubts, please write back. Wishing you speedy recovery. Warm regards.
