Question: My husband is is showing a change in personality. he has started cussing quite a bit, interrupting conversations, being mean to people, thinking he is always right when he is clearly wrong. becoming very upset when someone disagrees with him to the point of arguing and yelling at the person. He is suddenly tired a lot and is spending money like crazy while yelling at me that we are on a fixed income now and I haven't spent a dime other than groceries. This is not like him. I have been married to him 45 yrs so I know him pretty well, He is diabetic I've watched his sugars and they are in line. We are seeing his Dr. tomorrow, what should I ask him too check for? Thank you, XXXX, YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Ask that he should be evaluated for bipolar by a psychiatrist!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

II have reviewed what your husband is going through fully. I will suggest that he be evaluated for bipolar disorder by a psychiatrist. Clearly, he is exhibiting signs of hyperactivity/impulsiveness and as such needs to be evaluated for a psychiatric disease condition such as bipolar disease, mania, etc.

Keep me posted about the outcome. I wish him well.

Told us he just need to calm dowm and go to his happy place in his head and slow down and rest more. You mentioned bipolar disease? where should I go from here? How do I get him to a psychiatrist after what his Dr said to him, that everything was fine just go to his happy place. whatever, where ever that is?
