How To Get Off Of Xanax?

Question: Can an internist or family physician help me get off of Xanax? I know 2 that I would feel comfortable with.
Brief Answer:
Yes they can do
Detailed Answer:
Dear Nancie,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I think a internist can help you in discontinuation of xanax if it is not a high dose. In case you are taking very high dose(above 2 mg) or for years than it is preferable to get in contact with a psychiatrist.
Only thing the cause of xanax use need to be treated before hand if still persists. In many patients with xanax there is associated anxiety which needs to be treated with other anti anxiety medication like SSRI before attempt to withdrawal of xanax.
