How To Get Rid Of Depression?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Aug 2024
Question: My boyfriend has cheated on me one time and explained all these symptoms of depersonalization/derealization. He said it felt like a blur and he wasn’t aware that what he was doing was cheating. He didn’t think about me or our relationship at all and cheated with a stranger as if on autopilot. He felt he was watching someone else and it didn’t feel like his own body. I’m torn by this and don’t understand how he couldn’t have known what he was doing. He was diagnosed with depression and is getting treatment. Can this disorder cause such an intense episode where this could happen to him unknowingly?

Brief Answer:
Possibility can not be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
First of all I like to inform you that in a person with clinical depression can have depersonalisation as well as derealisation and possibility of same can not be ruled out without in person communication with the individual.

Secondly I like to to inform you that depersonalisation/ derealisation or often not so intense and patient remains aware of surrounding to some extent and generally risky behaviours are not carried out. it is also possible that during intense pleasure a sense of depersonalisation can occur.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks again.

Are there any rare cases where intense episodes of depersonalization and derealization can happen like this, where someone isn’t aware of themselves and their actions? He is genuinely confused about what happened, his symptoms all point to depersonalization and derealization. I wonder if he went through a psychotic episode.
