Lifestyle modification& healthy eating habits with regular exercise reqd

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health Care Magic.

You have not mentioned the context and whether you are an alcoholic. Usually for alcoholics, the GGT level should come down in 4 weeks of stoppage of alcohol intake. You perhaps did not notice that there is some derangement of the Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) as well. For non alcoholics it could be due to a condition called non alcoholic steatosis. I would suggest getting an upper abdominal ultrasound done and if the report is fine, repeat the LFT after 6 months.

I do not think that ursodeoxycholic acid tablets are essential. If you still wish to take, I would not suggest taking it for more than 2-4 weeks.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I was alcoholic and used to drink daily and also from past 6 months i used to take oily food more. But from past 3 days i have reduced alcohol intake and also stopped oil based food.
Can you please suggest my diet that i should have in order to reduse my GGT level.
Also please suggest any medication if needed.

Brief Answer:
You need to stop drinking altogether

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

The raised GGT and indicate chronic liver injury that you have caused by drinking over all these days. To undo the damage, you need to give up alcohol intake altogether. Mere reduction would not help. Otherwise the damage will keep worsening.

About diet, anything low on oils and high on green leafy vegetables would be fine.

Stop taking the tablets. They would not be helpful.

Hope that helps.
