How To Overcome Anxiety With Obsessive-compulsive Disorder?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Nov 2022
Question: After tying my shoe laces this morning, I went on to work, but on the way trying to remove a hair from my lips, I accidentally touched the tip of my tongue. I am freaking out, because of the shoe laces. Since I had C Diff infection 2 and a half years ago, I developed severe fear of germs, to the point of OCD. I had my bottle of water with me and I immediately rinsed and spit, and later at work rinsed with Peroxide mouthwash. Please tell me that nothing can happen to me like this- I am thinking if the infections were to happen like this, everyone would be sick all the time, right? But my anxiety over this is horrible. Thank you in advance

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are suggestive of the obsessive-compulsive disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

All the symptoms you have described as suggestive of something called obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It is a really frustrating disease and can significantly reduce the quality of life.

OCD is a kind of anxiety disorder and can be cured with proper and timely treatment. Most of the patients don't seek proper treatment and result in worsening.

Consult a psychiatrist at the earliest and get evaluated. You might require behavioral therapy and drugs like SSRIs. It's a curable disease you have to be motivated for better results. You can try yourself to avoid the unwanted fear. Playing in the soil and swimming in a river forces you to get exposed and slowly level you down. A psychiatrist can help you much better.

Wishing you good health.
Thanks
