Brief Answer: TOO LATE TO PREVENT, WAIT FOR YOUR PERIODS. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Emergency contraceptives can be taken maximum upto 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. Other than that a reliable contraceptive should be used. Now that unprotected sex has already occurred a week back, nothing can be done to PREVENT a pregnancy. At the most , what can be done is early diagnosis and termination of a pregnancy if it occurs. Wait for your periods. If you skip your periods, then take a pregnancy test. If positive, consult a gynaecologist at the earliest for medical abortion pills. Avoid unprotected sex in future. All the best. Take care.
