How To Quit Cocaine?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: Not good now doc, I haven't quit. I think I may be doing irreparable damage. The first pic is of me, 6 mos ago. The other 3 are me today. This all happened with my eyes (super red & swollen, itchy, watery, etc) since Saturday. Don't know if I pink eye or my last batch was tainted. Please advise of your thoughts. What do you think is the best way to detox naturally? Best fresh foods and/or vitamins & minerals? http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/AskDoctorInboxServlet?page=viewQuery&queryId=82101

Brief Answer: As below. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome back! Quitting cocaine is indeed difficult but not impossible. There are many others who have done it and so can you. I also share your apprehension that some of the damage may be irreparable now or will become so, if you continue with the habit anymore. It is this very apprehension that makes me suggest that drastic measures are now called for. You have been trying to quit on your own but have not been able to do so. Please give a thought to going into rehab as it may not be possible for you to do it on your own. Taking fresh and nutritious food items and vitamin supplements will help improve your general health but will not make much of a difference in your craving for cocaine and your ability to combat it. I feel that going into a controlled environment where you have medical supervision and no access to drugs is the only thing that can turn the tide for you right now. Please introspect on how life has changed since becoming hooked and how long can it continue like this. Your snaps were not uploaded with this query. You can try uploading them again. I remember your snaps with the nasal perforation from the previous query. If you have noticed no improvement in your eyes over the last couple of days, then please see a doctor immediately. If the condition had been just due to intoxication or withdrawal, it would have improved by now. But if this due to contamination in the drugs, then your eyes might have developed an allergic reaction to the chemicals and would need treatment. Please do not neglect this. I hope things work out well for you. Best wishes. Dr Preeti Parakh MD Psychiatry
