Brief Answer:
Best is to recognize that it is a bad habbit

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.

The first step is to recognize that it is bad habbit. Not only does it affect you but also people around you and you may end up being alone due to it.

Next step is to stop it for a specified time say 2 days or 3 days. Once you are comfortable that you can live without this bad habbit, prolong the time to weeks and months until you know that you have given it up.

Then there are medicines available like nicotine replacement methods. When you do not smoke your body wants to have nicotine, which can be provided with nicotine containing chewing gums. After a few days the number of chewing gums can be tapered off. This keeps you away from the cigarette and related smoke.

Then there are anti-depressant medicines like bupropion and varenicline that can be tried. These are prescription medicines.

In case you experience withdrawal symptoms, then symptomatic treatment can be given.

Meditation and yoga courses when learnt in a course, help too.

Hope it helps.
