Question: Can you please tell me how do eye doctors check your eyes before they do cataract surgery to make sure that you have the right lens for each eye? Also can you please explain how a person can be diagnosised with Astigmatism, Myopia, and Pseudophakia in both eyes after they have had cataract surgery in both eyes?

Brief Answer:
Eye measurements for power calculation

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
There are various parameters to be checked to come to the exact power of lens to be put in the eye.
A combination of curvature of cornea, the outermost layerof the eye and total length, measured by ultrasound, by a computer calculation gives us the exact power of lens to be put in the eye.
Measurements of the curvature give us the measurement of exact level of astigmatism.
If the lens put in the eye is of higher power than recommend the one lands up with post operative myopia.Post operative astigmatism can be pre existing or may develop due to healing by scar tissue.
I feel I have covered all aspects, if there is any further query in this regard please do get back to me.
