Question : I think I might have a parasite or parasites (lots). Started in feet and then in hands. Thought they were metal splinters, but when I used tweezers they move away. Not straight like a splinter either. Did start to notice them about a month ago. When I take a shower my hands soften and I am able to pull lots of long hair like strings out of my hands. they leave a waxy layer that hardens when hand and feet are dry. They have since started moving around my eyes so my hope that they would go away has turned to more fear. Not sure if I should wait longer or go see a doctor. Thank you for any help.

Brief Answer:
An early consultation with your doctor is recommended

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. It is possible that you might have parasitic infestation like changes in your feet and hands. However the description of your symptoms does not clearly fit in to any on the common parasitic conditions. Less likely it might be due to a hypersensitive skin condition.

2. In the absence of a clear indication of a particular condition and since it is progressing to involve your hands and feet, it is important to consult a doctor who is preferably a specialist in treating skin conditions.

3. There is no need to fear since the condition is limited to the upper layers of skin and it does not seem to be a serious condition. However an early consultation with your doctor is indicated to make a confirmed clinical diagnosis.

Hope your query is answered.
