Brief Answer: Follows. Detailed Answer: Dear Sir, Thank you for posting your query on HCM. Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that the cough syrup you are mentioning contains dextromethorphan which is medicine for supressing cough , when taken in excess gives a high . Since you mention that you take it every few days that means your dependence on the drug is less so there is a possibility that you may not require a rehab check in for that . First try to reduce the amount gradually , instead of two take one then make it half . Further treatment will be supportive and depend on whether you get withdrawl symptoms or not .It is better if you contact a drug deaddiction centre so that a stepwise guided deaddiction can be done. Only your strong will to leave it will help you . Take care. Dr. Shruti
