Hello,

If you have been taking only phenerga (promethazine) you will not likely experience many side effects from stopping it . In this case you can stop it cold turkey.
If you are taking it together with codeine you may need to tapper it off and may experience some withdrawal effects for about 7-8 days getting better gradually.
In this case you may need to take half the dosage for a week in order to tapper it down.
