Brief Answer: Answered below Detailed Answer: Hi Ms. XXXXXXX Thanks for writing to us. Please do not panic. You have several solutions if you do not wish to retain this pregnancy. Firstly, see a specialist for a clinical confirmation, get a trans-vaginal sonogram to confirm the gestational age, location of the gestation sac and any other needed details. Once the diagnosis is established, if you are less than eight weeks pregnant, you can undergo a medical abortion and a surgical evacuation would be needed for later stages. Your consultant will prescribe the required medication and the dosage. The entire process usually takes one or two days based on the period of pregnancy. The completion of the process is confirmed through a clinical exam and a follow up sonogram. The entire process should be under the surveillance of the doctor. Some preliminary investigations like blood counts, bleeding and clotting profiles, urinalysis are performed prior to the procedure. Genital hygiene should be maintained throughout. One word of caution-please do not try to self-medicate yourself as it can lead to incomplete abortion, heavy bleeding and infection. Rarely, an ectopic pregnancy could be thus tried for abortion leading to tubal rupture and grave danger. Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help. regards, Shanti.V.

Brief Answer: Diagnosis may not be accurate. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing back. If you had your period on the 15th, presuming a 30-day cycle, you could be ovulating right now. As such, you cannot get a positive pregnancy test. Here are your answers- - For a home pregnancy test to read positive, you should be at least 3 weeks from the point of ovulation and get a fresh early morning sample for the test result to be accurate. - For a better and an earlier confirmation, you can go for the assay of serum beta-hCG titres about a week before you are due for your next cycle or ten days after ovulation. Hope I have clarified your doubts. Please contact for more information. I will be ready to help. regards, Shanti.V.

Brief Answer: Not significant. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for writing again. If you are only 14 days away from your last period and if you have 28-30 day cycles, you need not worry at all. False positives do occur with HPTs. The test is not of any significance now. You can rest assured. Hope all your queries have been answered. Please do contact if you need any more information. I will be available to help. Wish you good health. regards, Shanti.V.

Brief Answer: There are high chances. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for your query. If she has regular 28-30 day cycles, chances of conception are high as she was in the fertile period. Hope your query has been clarified. Regards, Shanti.V

Brief Answer: Detailed below Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for writing back. Even though you had pulled out, pre-ejaculate contains enough sperm to cause conception if intercourse happens to have occurred during the fertile period, i.e., at the time of ovulation. Since you had the incident during the mid-cycle, which happens to be the fertile period, the chances are high. Please close this discussion as I hope all your queries have been answered. Wish you good health. regards, Shanti.V.

Brief Answer: Can get a HPT in a couple of days. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing again. Emergency pill does cause cycle disturbance for one or two cycles and not usually more than that. Your current delay in the cycle is not likely to have been caused by the emergency pill you took in January; it is more likely due to the possibility of conception as you had unprotected intercourse just at the time of ovulation this cycle, considering the fact that you had regular monthly cycles prior to this disturbance. Please understand that ejaculation is not necessary for conception to occur; pre-ejaculate contains enough sperm to cause pregnancy if it happens to be the ovulation time, just as it had happened in your case. So, in the current circumstances, you should go for either urine pregnancy test with a fresh early morning sample after a couple of days or go for the estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres now. The blood test is more reliable. Based on the result of your pregnancy test/s, further management can be decided. Also, it is difficult to establish ovulation in this cycle, as you did not have a regular cycle prior to this one. So, a blood test for pregnancy would be better. You should consult a gynecologist in person after the result for further treatment. Hope your query has been answered. Wish you good health. regards, Shanti.V.
