How To Treat A Burn Blister?

Question: I think I have second degree burns on 2" section of breast and 6" section of upper abdomen. The burns now have large blisters. How should I treat this at home.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Good that you have already done the correct thing of applying cool water and then the product called ice.
Just add on :
Take Ibuprofen if it suits you along with a PPI like Omeprazole.
Apply liquid Povidone Iodine locally to the burns and the whole area around to sterilize the skin.
Also take multivitamins as they help in good healing.
And please do nothing else. This is because the skin of the blister along with a layer of povidone iodine acts as the best dressing and you practically do not need any dressing till the blister is opened up.
You will need antibiotics only if there is evidence of infection, and then may consult your Doctor if required.

All the above measures are sufficient at the moment for you to treat yourself at home as you asked for.

But, if the depth of the wound is more or if there is evidence of infection or if any other problems are anticipated, please consult your Doctor.
