How To Treat A Non-displaced Tibial Fracture Along With Soft Tissue Damage In Knee?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Dec 2015
Question: I had a non-displaced tibial fracture along with some soft tissue damage to my knee. The fracture is healed but I'd like to know if that bone is now compromised and more vulnerable than before the damage was done?

Brief Answer:
Undisplaced fractures heal without any residual weakness and disability.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Undisplaced fracture heal without any residual weakness and deformity. This bone is no more compromised and vulnerable than before the damage was done. Bones strength after complete healing is as if it was not fractured.

As it was undisplaced fractured so there will be no deformity and disability after healing.

As there is no disability and weakness due to fracture so I think work compensation board is right.

Due to fracture you are to be given compensation for loss of your work during healing period, as after healing undisplaced fracture is as if not fractured. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX That answers my question perfectly. The judge reviewing the offered settlement was concerned that no compensation was forthcoming for this part of my injuries. You have confirmed that my tibia is not further compromised or weakened.
