How To Treat A Sinus Infection Along With Pneumonia?

Question: My husband suffers from sinus infections and pneumonia. The major concern is that he becomes shaky in his hands and arms and loses the ability to walk or stand. What's going on??

Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Shakiness in limbs and walking difficulties may be due to parkinsonism, cerebellitis or generalized weakness.
Infection may precipitate parkinsons disease and can lead to post infection cerebellitis.
The symptoms should improve in few days.
Physiotherapy should be done regularly.
Reevaluation after 2-4 weeks when treatment of pneumonia is completed should be planned.
Upload any reports if available.

thank u for the response.

THANNKS ... he was checked for Parkinsons and nothing there. After the hospital visit we do about 10 days of rehab. He works outside just about every day of the week and he is approx 6' 220 lbs. These episodes have occurred 4 out of 5 times that we had to hospitalize him. Your suggestions are helpful and if you discover something else we would appreciate hearing again from you. Does this happen as a result of the sinus infection/pneumonia. He has had the pneumonia shots. What triggers this? Sinus, pneumonia,???? He does nose cleaning.washing to alleviate this happening again. What else should we be doing???

Sinusitis and pneumonia cause post infection cerebellitis which can cause swaying during walking.
Please upload previous prescription and reports.
Brain imaging may be required.
Continue rest medications.

Reports went to PCP and hopefully we will see them on Monday ... then I will upload a copy to you along with prescriptions. Keep in mind that he loses control of his body from the waist down along with the shaky hands. It takes about a week for him to get everything [and I mean everything] back under his control. He is unable
to feed himself. And gets very frustrated.

xxxxxx Took this info with me when we went for his discharge checkup. The NP was very good in explaining to me how this came about. Rest, rest and more rest is the solution along with physical therapy.

Without your help I would not have been able to ask the appropriate questions.
He is recovering and it will be sometime before he is able to resume his routine in the landscape/nursery.

Involvement of predominantly lower limbs with normal movement during supine position may be due to normal pressure hydrocephalus or lower body parkinson's.
If he is improving then prognosis is good.
Continue physiotherapy and medications as advised by doctors.
