Question: hi I had a scratch on my arm .. I it with neosporin and covered with a band-aid---a few days later
it looked infected---I washed it ---used some bacitracin ointment and left it uncovered. It looks like it is healing
nicely ---but noticed that there is a protruding vein from the area around the cut traveling up my arm???
I am 71 years old and in good health.

Brief Answer:
The veins are normal to go by. Unless you see some complications.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Veins, arteries and capillaries go in every cell of our body so they can give them blood and keep they alive.
So, it is normal for the vein to go by. It is normal that it feels protruding in some parts, because those are the parts where the valves of the veins are located.

You seem to have done the right things while you have treated it. Just give it time to heal. Feel free to follow up with me in case any complication arise - fever, red and tender area around the vein, ect, but it normally should not be the case.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
