Posted on Wed, 5 Jul 2017
Question: I have asked a question in this forum before regarding dandruff and got response to use ketoconazole shampoo for 4 weeks. I have used it for a month but after that I still have dandruff and lot of itching resulting in hair fall. Can you please suggest what to be done or if you want me to physically consult a doctor?

Brief Answer:
Management of dandruff

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I can understand your concern but if you are not having relief with ketoconazole shampoo I would recommend you to change shampoo and take oral antifungals.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to use ciclopirox olamine shampoo twice weekly and take capsule itraconazole 200 mg once daily in the morning and tablet levocetrizine 5 mg at bedtime.
Along with this apply a lotion containing combination of beclomethasone and clotrimazole on the itchy and scaly areas of the scalp twice daily.
These are prescription drugs and should be used under the supervision of the doctor.

Dr Asmeet
