Brief Answer:
Could be with some withdrawal syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

Long term use of transdermal fentanyl patches could result in dependency which could result to withdrawal syndrome when you stop using it.
So if you had been tolerant to the patches and they have been helping through your pain, then it will be quite unnecessary to get rid of it. Using it since 1995 means that it has gradually become part of you and your pain being under control.
If you decide to get rid of it, then you might go through some withdrawal issues, which will require further medical attention (depending on what type of symptoms you might face). In any case, do talk with your doctor about your desire to get rid of the patch then you can both decide on what to do.

I do wish you the best and hope this helps
