we just moved to Ohio a couple of months ago and I cannot get to see a family doctor unitil Sept. 4th, I am74 years old
Take anti-inflammatory, hot fomentation and as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history well and understood the concerns.
My thoughts:
If the lumps are of recent origin then most probable reason is inflammatory in origin like organized infection in a boil or so. That is why they are painful on sitting. This area is pressure-point that is one has to sit on buttocks hence the inflammation can spread wider to give large lumps and since buttock has more fat the exact size and spread can not be easily determined.
Many of the boils may not show pointing or pus formation.
If they are present since long say weeks or months then only they can be said to be due to cyst or so. These do not pain.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Take an anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
Do not squeeze and avoid pressure on it as much as possible.
If antibiotic is required it is prescription based and hence you may need to visit ER or such facility if there is no relief or the lumps increase in size, redness, pain. The family Doctor is not available -Sept 4 is far away.
Warm fomentation to be continues 3 to 4 times a day.
Please give feedback once you follow the advise.
You may also post focused and clear photos of the affected area if possible, helps sometimes.
With Regards.
