Question : I accidentally popped a core sore on my lip and I want to know what I should do now to stop it from spreading or infecting it further.
Brief Answer:
Use oral antivirals
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
Popping a cold sore is not a good idea because it may make the spreading faster. You can use antiviral creams and ointments over it such Abreva found over the counter.
You can go to your doctor in order to take prescription oral antivirals.
Oral antivirals can make healing easy and stop from spreading and formation of other sores . Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
