Suggest An Alternative Medicine For Me Which Will Control My Blood Pressure But Not A Diuretic?

Question : I, aged 69 years now, was diagnosed to have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD; Creatinine 5.0) in April 2015, and ever since, the Creatinine level in the blood has been around the same 5.0. All these years, I have been healthy without manifestation of any symptom associated with CKD in the medical literature. I have not undergone even single dialysis. Apart from CKD and BP controlled by medicines, I have no other ailment. I am NOT a diabetes patient. One of the medicines I take is Dytor (Torsemide) 40 mg –one Tablet daily. It causes me constant feeling to urinate. But it keeps my blood level normal. I understand it is diuretic. Can you please suggest an alternative medicine for me (CKD patient) which will control my Blood Pressure but not a diuretic?

Hello,

As per your request and medical history, calcium channel blockers (like medicine amlodipine) are suitable for you. These are known to not impair renal function and are not diuretic. These act by dilating blood vessels and may cause some ankle edema (which is harmless).
