Question: I am 40 years old. I have had a C section and I was clamped back in 2007. I have recently missed a period. My last period started on April 20, 2019. It was a normal period that lasted 5-7 days. I have not had one since. I have had the symptoms of starting my period but nothing. No spotting or anything. Could this be early menopause? I have no pain, just cramping on and off, but not too bad.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern.

I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information.

Onset of menopause is dependent on factors like hormone balance, associated medical conditions and treatments, family history etc.

In the current scenario, it is too early to say whether you have entered peri-menopause. It could be a transient hormone aberration which is often seen with sudden weight changes, stress, infections, use of certain medications etc.

I would ask you to see a specialist for a proper clinical evaluation, get a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route to know the status of the pelvic organs and if suggested, go for a hormone assay.

Further management can be planned accordingly.

Hope you find this information useful. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
