Brief Answer:
You can try for pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns of fertility at age of 40 years.
1) It is difficult to conceive at 40 years of age basically due to low quality and quantity of eggs.
2) Genetic composition will not be good and hence aneuploid embryos ( genetically abnormal) are common.
3) Fertilization and implantation is difficult.
4) Having said that it is not wrong to try for pregnancy. There are chances of healthy pregnancy too.
5) Any abnormalities (if they occur) can be detected by ultrasound scan during pregnancy.
6) If you wish to plan for pregnancy, go ahead.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
