Question : I am experiencing very soft bowel movements with extreme gas. The movement’s come on suddenly and they don’t seem to be connected to meals The stools are not formed and are very difficult to clean completely clean. I am also quite tired. I have been recovering from knee replacement surgery that did not go well.

As per your history, there can be several causes which should get evaluated.

Kindly follow up with a bit more information,
Do you have fever, abdominal pain, blood in stool,nausea /vomiting, had any outside food?

For further assessment I would suggest you to consult with gastroenterologist for detailed clinical examination.

He may procure complete hemogram, ultrasound abdomen, stool analysis as per evaluation. Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

Till then you can take tablet loperamide 2 mg after every loose stool upto maximum 10 mg per day. Keep yourself hydrated and continue oral rehydration solution. Do blood pressure monitoring. Take soft diet.

I do not have a fever or blood in my stools. Nor have I had any outside food. My bowel movements though are incomplete
