Question : I am having a huge breakout in these red swollen bumps that range from small spots to quarter size patches. They started sunday night and after going to work on monday they spread all over my body and are itchy and hurt. I constantly feel a throbbing burning pain and my muscles are sore in the affected areas. I went to the ER and they gave me some heavy antihistamines and steroids, its been an hour and they havent changed anything.

I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photographs.
It seems to be either erythema multiforme or vasculitis.
It has multiple causes like infections, drugs, foods and sometimes occurs without any cause.
It needs to be treated with oral steroids and antihistaminics for 8-10 days.
It won’t respond in few hours.
You need to continue these medicines for a longer time to see results.
Also apply a topical steroid like cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily.
Also get your complete blood count, liver and kidney function, thyroid function tests and urinalysis to rule out any underlying cause.
