Question : I am having itching in patches on my face...on both sides of my mouth, the right side of my nose and just this afternoon the same itching was near both eyes. It is red a bit blotchy and I am wondering if it is psoriasis. I do have that condition in some parts of my scalp. There is tremendous dryness in these places where the itching occurs. I am 80 years old and in very good health otherwise.
Brief Answer:
It could be an eczema.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Psoriasis is very unlikely because it is not the usual site of psoriasis and the description you have given doesn’t match with that of psoriasis. It could be an eczema most probably. Or it could be part of an autoimmune disorder such as SLE.
As of now you can apply soft steroids for symptomatic relief. You can also take antihistamines like pheneramine for itching. Mostly it will subside in three or four days.
If the lesion persist, or spreads to larger areas, you have to consult with a dermatologist.
It will be better if you attach a picture of the lesion in the follow up query.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
