Question : I am on the oral contraceptive pill called trifeme. How would I go about skipping a period? I’m confused because there are 3 different colours of active pills indicating different levels of ingredients in each? Does this mean I can’t just take the active pills in regular order, skip the sugar pills and start on a new pack?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Consider progesterone only pills...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Trifeme is a triphasic pills where the doses of each hormone are adjusted proportionally to the level of estrogen and progesterone in the body. If you notice the level of levonorgestrel (progesterone) raises with each set of pills. Stopping levonorgestrel or reducing it's dose may trigger a withdrawal bleed.

Therefore if you are looking to skip period I might suggest to continue the third set of pill or consider a progesterone only pill. Period will resume a few days when you stop taking it. Your treating doctor will know about progesterone only pills.

Hope this answered your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.
