Question : I am on two prescription medicines,and I am having my menstrual periods about two or three times a month.I am 49 years old.It will stop for a few days or so after seven days of having my periods.I do not understand why this is happening to me.I am not sexually active at all.Should I see my primary care physician?

1) Such bleeding episodes are due to some abnormality in uterus or hormonal variations.

2) You need to get blood test for hormones and an ultrasound scan. I suggest you please see your primary care physician soon.

3) You might be referred to a gynecologist for these tests and also biopsy if required.
