Question: I am planning to adopt internationally and I've been asked to consider a child with a heart condition. Before I spend a lot of money on a medical file review I'm wondering if I can get an idea of how severe this child's heart condition is. If it is a situation with a short life expectancy or poor quality of life I am not likely to move forward due to its impact on the children i already have. They're is not a lot described in english but I did find this description. The heart is in right thoracic cavity, the apex points to right front. The anatomical left ventricle is in right side, transverse diameter 12mm, smaller. The anatomical right ventricle is in left side, transverse diameter 23mm, larger. Ventricle right loop. The inferior vena cava drains into the left atrium, right atrium. The pulmonary vein drains into the right atrium, left atrium. Suggest sistus Inversus viscerum
There are discontinuous echoes from upper inerventricular septum and atrial septum, VSD 10mm, ASD 8mm
There is a group of common atrioventricular valve, average opening and closing. The attachment point of tendon is in left side of IVS.
The aorta and main pulmonary artery originate from the anatomical right ventricle in left side. The aorta is in the front. The aortic sinus is seen clearly, diameter 13mm. The pulmonary artery is at back, diameter 10mm. There is a similar branch at the distal end. CDFI: the flows of aorta and pulmonary artery filled well. No color turbulence is detected."
