Question : Please help - i am an ocd sufferer - i am frantic with worry. I ate a piece of cheese last night with a black speck on it
no bigger than a dirt mark. Now i am worried it could have been the start of mold - and i could now have e-coli - i am not worried for myself but could i be a silent spreader - and could i now have e-coli in my poo - or would it be there anyway - please help

Brief Answer:
E coli is good for gut so some amount is commensal in stool.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query my dear,
I can very well appreciate your query,
If your cheese was really contaminated with E.coli or any other bacterium you would be suffering from severe food poisoning (Gastroenteritis) by now.
Vomiting nausea and loose stools are often too severe in such cases.
However as you are obsessive I would suggest you to go for a test called stool culture.
It would culture your stool for 24-48 hours any toxic bacteria fungus or organism if present would appear in it.
However as almost 24 hours have passed nothing is required but for mental satisfaction you could go for stool culture.
Thank you and follow ups are welcome.
