Question : hello doctor! I am writing because of my 5 year old daughter. We are on vacation and after the exposure to the sun she beguns itching so hard. Some pimps have come out at the chest area. It seems like allergy from the sun. I also am allergic from the sun. I have given her cetirizine 10 drips yesterday and today. The problem is that are 4 days left and I dont know how I can not take her to the beach. I am attaching the photo with the message. Please give me an advice of what ro do Thank you

Brief Answer:
Best way is to avoid sunlight, can give trial of sunscreen lotion

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As explained by you the skin reaction is after exposure to sunlight and you have the same history, there is high chance .photosensitivity also known as sun reaction.
This is a kind of allergic reaction and the best way to prevent allergic disorder is to avoid the precipitating factor that is sunlight. In beach area due to reflectance the sun light becomes more problematic.
You may give trial of sunscreen lotion with high SPF(more than 30).Avoid peak hours of direct sun light(you can go early in the morning or late afternoon). Use swimsuit which can cover maximum part of body. Continue giving cetrizine.
The dose of cetrizine for this age is 5 mg once a day. Please adjust the dose accordingly.
If skin reaction is there in spite of all these measures or it is worsening please consult a pediatrician.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
