I had swollen eyes one day and one XXXXXXX of my neck is swollen.. my Dr told me to start steroid and get blood work done this yr and do CT scan of my neck. I been know for skin issues and I been tested for autoimmune 1 time no evidence 2 times slight postive. I do get my hormones and thyroid check along with regular blood work and full std check. My pap came back good except I had a baterial infection.. my bf has hep c and I don't want to be concerned about having that with these symptom.. should I be concerned

Brief Answer:
regular testing would have ruled out serious causes of bruising

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

it is understandable to be concerned when multiple symptoms are occurring but in most cases, the causes are not serious or life threatening.

Scratching can cause bruising of the skin because the fingers and nails can damage the skin and bruising occurs when there is any trauma to the skin.
Regular blood work such as complete blood count, liver function and bleeding times tests (PT,PTT)- would show any problems with platelets (as part of the complete blood count)- that would cause bleeding.

Swelling can occur due to different causes , if both eyes were swollen then an allergy is the most common reason and this may also cause the swelling in the neck.
Steroids are sometimes used to treat allergic reactions if they are severe or if they do not respond to other treatment eg antihistamines

The CT scan would show if there are any other changes in the neck that are contributing to the swelling there.

Hepatitis C would not normally be associated with swelling of the neck or eyes though if it is present and the liver is not working well- can affect bleeding and bruising
If the liver was not working well however, it would show up on your regular tests once liver function was done.

Summary: (1) bruising is a common response to trauma to the skin such as scratching
(2)swelling of both eyes, usually due to allergies
(3)swelling the neck may be due to allergies but the ct would check for other causes
(4)liver function tests, bleeding tests, complete blood count would look for other causes of bruising

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
