Question : I came from a very abusive background and I recently watched a show about munchausen by proxy and it all clicked, but I would like to confirm with a doctor.

- My mother was taking quinaglute for heart palputations.
- Shortly after I was forced to drink %E2%80%9Cspecial drinks%E2%80%9D
- I then began to get severe brusing all over my body.
- The tests show I had thrombocytopenia and I wasnt allowed to play on the playground. I had to be isolated to prevent the chances of me falling down and getting %E2%80%9Cmore bruises%E2%80%9D

Could the quinaglute cause thrombocytopenia in a child?
My father is a dentist and I believe he had a part in this. Would a dentist have the medical knowledge of how to use this drug?

Brief Answer:
Quinaglute related to thrombocytopenia

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern. While I do not know whether this is a case of Munchausen by proxy, studies have shown that Quinaglute is one of group of drugs causing thrombocytopenia. This study has only been done on adult subjects, therefore it is not clear whether this drug has the same effect on children.

A dentist, may or may not have the medical knowledge on this drug as it is not a medication routinely used in dentistry.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you futher.

Take care
