Question : Four days ago, I took some dry mouth mints with Xylitol. I woke up the next morning with bad bloating in my stomach. I didn't think it was from the mints, and I took some peppermint pills and water and it seemed to go away by afternoon. Saturday, I ate mre of the mints in an empty stomach and had the most terrible bloating all of the rest of the day and some in Sunday. Today, I woke up and almost could not button my pants because of the bloat. Now through these days of bloat, I have eaten 1 salad, 1/2 cup of nuts, and a grilled cheese. Water and a Kevita. I cannot figure out how to get rid of this, and I have not taken any mints or I am not user if that is causing it.

Brief Answer:
Use simethicone, over the counter.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Xylitol found in mints can cause bloating.
Also chewing a chewing gum causes bloating by air ingestion.
You may need to use simethicone tablets which are found over the counter.
They reduce bloating and gas and light diarrhea.

Hope I have answered the question.

I have taken simethicone and went for a walk, I did yoga even though it was painful. I will burp some but it bloats right back up. It is affecting my BMs and I cannot eat. I mean honesty, I just paid 25.00 so you know it has to be pretty bad bloat/gas. I have never had this , as bad before in my life.

Probiotics may help also.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
You can also follow some tips to help bloating taking count that you tried simethicone tablets.
You may need to avoid using carbonated drinks, chewing gums, legumes, broccoli, cauliflower.
Use yogurt which contains probiotics or you can take any probiotic supplements in pharmacy.
The burping you are having may be caused because of GERD so you need to take antiacids for it.
