Question : My platelet has always been high in the range of 600-700 x 10"9/L. My other blood count is within normal range as of today.
1. 10 years ago I had two BCR/ABL test (peripheral blood) to rule out CML, one test came back positive the other negative. Which test should I believe?
2. I had a JAK2+ test drawn with peripheral blood and it came back positive, based on this the doctor diagnosed me with Essential Thrombocystosis, does the presence of JAK2+ gene automatically rule out CML ?

Yes jak2 and bcr abl are not seen together

Thanks for your query.
Since you have only elevated platelets for 10 yrs then CML becomes extremely unlikely. Also bcr abl and jak2 are not seen together in one patient.
Hence I think you are bcr abl negative and essential thrombocytosis is the correct diagnosis.

I have read that Leukemia can occur without Leukocytosis, in this case how would one detect the Leukemia?

Yes but not in CML
Detailed Answer:
Very unlikely in CML, especially without treatment for 10 years. This can happen in acute leukemias, and easily detected by bone marrow exam.
Hence it's extremely unlikely to be CML.

The two tests for BCR/ABL were "Multiplex-RT PCR" and "Qualitative Reverse Transcriptase-PCR"
Are these two the same? If not which one is more sensitive in detecting BCR/ABL
