I Dropped A Contact Lens Out Into The Sink Of

Question: I dropped a contact lens out into the sink of the bathroom in the First Aid office at my place of work. The lens landed in the porcelain sink. There was no blood in the sink, but I am not sure when it was fully cleaned last. There has been blood in that sink in the past.

I absentmindedly cleaned the lens off with saline eye wash (NOT contact lens disinfectant) and placed the lens back into my eye for about fifteen minutes. I started to think about it more, then removed the lens, as I became worried about picking up a blood borne pathogen from the sink and putting it in my eye.

I have had my complete series of hepatitis B vaccines in 1998, and had two additional shots in 2018 (I forgot the third in the series).

What risks, if any, should I be concerned with? Should I do anything at this point?

Brief Answer:
There is no cause for concern

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir / Madam

Greetings of the day. Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

There is absolutely no cause of concern. You have thoroughly
Done the needful of cleaning the lens. Blood borne infection is unlikely to spread from sink. Only thing that can be worrisome is bacterial conjunctivitis, which less likely cannot be complexity negated.

Rest ne assured there is no cause of concern regarding blood borne infections.
