Question : I got bit by a mosquito and it looks like I have hives. I didn%E2%80%99t scratch but it swelled and spread from when I first got bit last night. It bit my friend too and nothing happened to her. I%E2%80%99m worried cuz my friend has herpes and I don%E2%80%99t know who the mosquito bit first. What do you think could be the cause of this swelling?
Is it ok to take Benadryl? Will that help? I bought Benadryl.
Brief Answer:
Take Benadryl and give details
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history, seen the photos and understood the concerns.
First of all, there are a few diseases that can be transmitted by mosquito bites like malaria. I do not think that herpes can be transmitted by mosquito or any such bites.
Secondly, the swelling is large enough to say this to be due to mosquito bite unless there is such previous similar history.
Taking Benadryl is surely a good decision, please go ahead as there is an allergic reaction.
Did you see any other insects nearby?
What are other symptoms at the moment like itching or so?
Please give details.
