Question : I got bruises on both my arms next to my elbow area. I have hemoglobin deficiency. But what is the cause I met doctor and she gave me like 11 tests to perform. So it is necessary ? what should be done

Hi

Since you are having bruises on both arms next to elbow area and have hemoglobin deficiency the cause of anaemia should be found out.

I would advise you to do further blood tests such as red blood cell size, hematocrit and ferritin

If the cause of your low hemoglobin is iron deficiency anaemia then these blood test will come out as abnormal

Depending on results you can take iron tablets on an empty stomach.

However, because iron tablets can upset your stomach, you may need to take your iron tablets with meals.

I have previously taken the tests and I am taking medicine may be for hemoglobin or iron, but the exact level of iron is not known! So I have been prescribed 11 tests is it fine if I carry on eating healthy food which would increase my hemoglobin or I need to get tests done?
