Question : I got in a skiing accident and heard and felt a pop when I tried to walk on it my knee gave out on me my knee has been swollen for 6 days now and I am still unable to walk on it.
What steps should I follow next.. or do you think it’s a sprain
Brief Answer:
soft tissue injuries...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You described that you heard the knee pop and it's swollen for 6 days. In such cases possibilities of knee ligament / meniscal injuries are to be considered and not just sprains. I insist that you see a doctor / orthopedic doctor nearby. The doctor will be able to identify the type of injury sustained through careful examination of knee. If necessary scan of the knee will be performed.
Until then you should rest the limb. Ice the area and take over the counter antiinflammatory drugs (motrin).
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications
