I Had 80mg Kenalog Injections Every 4 Weeks For 4

Question: I had 80mg Kenalog injections every 4 weeks for 4 months. These injections stopped 5 months ago as I had side effects of severe ankle swelling. I still have ankle swelling and my menstrual cycle changed. Instead of having 5 day bleeding I now have 7 day bleeding. Can this still be the cause of change in periods. My GP isn't worried but I am as I want to conceive and I know my age is against me at 45. I do have regular cycles. I am just worried because ti's month I have had 10 days of bleeding but my GP again isn't concerned. All hormone blood tests and pelvic ultrasound scan are no abnormalities detected. I don't have these results to send to you.

Brief Answer:
The changes in the menstrual cycle can be related to Kenalog injections

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The changes in the menstrual cycle can be related to Kenalog injections.
Based on the fact that this injection are corticosteroids, they can cause endocrine changes.
The menstrual cycle can come later or earlier and the flow can change.
These changes are temporary and are not a matter of concern.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!

Brief Answer:
The chances of conceiving are lower after the age of 40

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,

The cycle may take some time to regulate again after the steroids.
It is very individual actually.
Based on the fact that the hormone test and pelvic ultrasound are normal, you should not be concerned.
The woman's fertility begins to decline after the age of 35.
If you don't conceive within six months after trying, I suggest to consult your obstetrician for other options.

Hope it helps dear.
Take care,
