I Had A Cervical X-ray In May Showing Reversal Of Cervical Lordosis

I had a cervical X-ray in May showing reversal of cervical lordosis, and I had an MRI done in July showing Mild Cervical Kyphosis and 4 minimal annular bulges. I did not do physical therapy because my symptoms at the time had subsided. I recently read an article online about the importance of a healthy cervical curve. I continued to research and read a study that really concerns me. It explained how cervical kyphosis can cause reduced blood flow to the brain via the vertebral arteries. Another article mentioned compression and stretching of those arteries. I have an appointment scheduled with my orthopedist next week, but I’m incredibly anxious at the moment after what I’ve read. Is it possible to restore the cervical spine back to a healthy curve?
Yes, it is possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Cervical kyphosis or malalignment may impair the blood flow to the brain mostly in severe cases and associated with other medical conditions such as arthritis of the spine, etc.
In such cases, symptoms of impaired brain blood flow ( such as vertigo, headaches, vision problems, poor concentration, etc.) are present.
The good news is that these malalignments are reversible in most cases, and physical therapy, guided cervical exercises, improvement of posture, cervical collars, etc. are modalities of treatment.
So, the answer to your question is yes, the cervical spine may be restored to a healthy curve.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
