Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

Normal menstrual rhythm is usually established by 6-8 weeks after abortion. However, as you have switched over to oral contraceptives, erratic cycles are expected for the first couple of months.

If you have had a follow up clinical evaluation after the abortion and a trans-vaginal sonogram to exclude retained products, this abnormal menstrual pattern can be due to the hormone changes subsequent to the pill usage.

In the current scenario, your bleeding has to be controlled initially by using styptics and after a clinical evaluation, hormones may be used and/or the contraceptive medication changed.

I would suggest a proper clinical evaluation and planning of further management.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

regards,
Shanti.V.
