Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You have a large diverticulum in the small bowel.
Diverticulum is an outpouching in the gastrointestinal tract. Diverticula may be birth defect or may be acquired later in life.
Meckel's diverticulum is a birth defect and is seen in 2 percent of the population. The location of your diverticulum does not indicate it is Meckel's diverticulum.
Diverticula most often does not cause any symptom and may remain silent.
Rarely it may cause bacterial overgrowth, bloating, pain, bleeding etc.
Regards,
Dr.R.K

What if it is causing pain? I had gastric bypass surgery and I get pain and tenderness near my belly button, that is sharp and shoots up to an 8.
Brief Answer:
Answer given below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Diverticulum will cause pain if it is inflamed or perforated.
Perforation is an emergency and it is unlikely your diverticulum is perforated.
To know whether it is inflamed a CT scan may be done.
